Americans will be flocking to Europe in droves to celebrate the holiday season over the next few weeks and new research reveals the places they're most interested in visiting.
After unveiling this season's most coveted places around the world, Allianz Partners recently narrowed its focus, publishing its annual European Holiday Destination Index, revealing the most popular European destinations for 2025.
The travel insurance and assistance experts reviewed more than 165,000 travel itineraries across the peak holiday travel period, analyzing round-trip flights departing from U.S. airports between November 26, 2025, and January 6, 2026.
London remains the most sought-after locale across the pond, followed by Paris. Rome jumped one spot to number three. Otherwise, the top 10 remains unchanged from 2024, with Madrid, Dublin, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Munich and Lisbon continuing to stir up interest.
The festive Christmas-friendly destination of Vienna, Austria, was one of this year's big climbers, jumping five spots from 20th in 2024 to 15th in 2025.

Meanwhile, the Danish capital of Copenhagen is new to the top 20 this year, placing 16th and bumping out Helsinki, Finland.

"From Christmas markets to New Year’s celebrations, travelers are seeking memorable, stress-free experiences, backed by coverage for delays, cancellations, medical emergencies abroad, and other unexpected disruptions.”
