The Florida Keys & Key West is the recipient of a wealth of air developments, including the opening of the new 48,802-square-foot Concourse A at Key West International Airport (EYW) and additional airlift into the destination.
“The concourse features a contemporary design with a 446-panel electrochromic glass curtain wall and an expanded security checkpoint with an upgraded baggage claim,” said Florida Keys & Key West tourism officials.
“A Gate 8 passenger boarding bridge is dedicated for Allegiant Air, currently with nonstop service from six cities. New EYW dining venues include Chili’s and Farm 2 Air Market.”
On Oct. 3, Allegiant Air will inaugurate twice-weekly nonstop flights from Knoxville, Tennessee’s McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) into EYW.
In all, the airport expects to welcome 26 new nonstop from such carriers as Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Breeze Airways, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, United Airlines and Silver Airways.
For its part, Breeze Airways launched nonstop Wednesday service into EYW from Tampa and Orlando in mid-June. On Thursday, Oct. 2, , the carrier is scheduled to introduce service airport from Canton, Ohio; and from and Raleigh-Durham, N.C. on Friday, Oct. 3.
In addition to the new concourse, which opened in May, TSA lanes are scheduled to debut at the airport in mid-September, tourism officials said, adding that other enhancements include “a new pedestrian bridge, a modernized baggage claim with dual carousels, improved rental car counters and an expanded four-lane TSA checkpoint,” which are set to open in summer 2026.
