The Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT) named Yael Golan interim tourism commissioner for North America, and appointed Richard Liverance as its western region marketing director and Lisa McManus as it business development manager for the Midwest region.
Golan replaces Eyal Carlin, who joined El Al.
“In her role as interim commissioner, Golan will oversee all tourism marketing activities for the five regional offices across the United States and Canada,” the IMOT said.
She formerly held the position of Tourism Consul of the southern region, where she promoted Israel to Southern-based tour operators, host agencies, airlines, cruise lines, major Christian denominations and Jewish organizations
Golan also serves as director of the International Hosting Program, “and since the events of October 7, she has been the point person for two Northern Israel regional councils – Marom Galil and Metula – in charge of finding accommodation solutions for the displaced community while working with dozens of hotels throughout the country,” the IMOT said.
Liverance, who has served as a pastor and Bible teacher for upward of 25 years, will work with the travel trade in the Western US to promote travel to Israel.
McManus, a former travel advisor and 20-year industry veteran, will promote tourism to Israel in 13 states.
“This is such a critical time for the Israel Ministry of Tourism, and now more than ever, it’s important that we have experienced professionals to help us navigate the current challenges,” said Pini Shani, deputy director general and head of marketing administration for the IMOT.
“We are happy to have Yael leading our North American team given her years of experience on the ground in the U.S. along with Richard and Lisa, who have so much to offer through their decades of experience.”
