Oceania Cruises to Debut New Restaurants Aboard Oceania Sonata

Oceania Cruises plans to launch two new culinary concepts aboard its forthcoming ship Oceania Sonata.

Oceania Sonata, the first vessel in the line’s new Sonata Class, is scheduled to debut in August 2027. The vessel will have two new eateries, a fine-dining restaurant called La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, and a Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant called Nikkei Kitchen.

“Oceania Sonata represents an incredible opportunity to reimagine the future of our culinary program, while still offering the culinary concepts our guests know and love,” says Jason Montague, chief luxury officer for Oceania Cruises.

According to Oceania, La Table will be the only restaurant at sea to be launched with the seal of approval by the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France (Master Chefs of France, MCF). Oceania Cruises’ two executive culinary directors, Alexis Quaretti and Eric Barale, have both been inducted into the organization.

La Table will offer rotating menus created by Quaretti and Barale in collaboration with invited Master Chefs of France members from around the world. The cruise line will also offer its Dom Pérignon Experience, a six-course tasting menu paired with three vintage Champagnes. 

La Table will be a reservations-only venue limited to 18 guests per evening, with an additional wine experience surcharge.

The menu for Nikkei Kitchen, meanwhile, was developed by chef Gustavo Sugay, in partnership with Quaretti and Barale. The restaurant will have a bright, airy interior with an open kitchen. It will be part of the line’s always-included specialty dining program, available on a first-come basis with no reservations required. 

“La Table has allowed us to create a dining experience that honors the heritage of French gastronomy, a cuisine that we are passionate about, and propels it forward,” says Quaretti. “With the addition of Nikkei Kitchen, we’re able to celebrate bold, global flavors in unexpected, fresh ways.”
