Tern, the technology platform designed for travel agents, is launching a new expansion of its platform with new booking technology through Project Expedition and future travel insurance partnerships.
Tern, which has over $1 billion in bookings managed by advisors using the platform, will now offer direct booking capabilities, while advisors get to keep their full commission rights and clients. The news was announced to advisors during a webinar today, December 4.
It’ll work like this: travel advisors will be able to use Tern not just for what they’ve always used it for, but will also be able to search Project Expedition’s full public catalog, adding tours to itineraries, generating quotes and completing bookings.
"Project Expedition was the ideal partner to launch this capability," says David Shull, CEO and Co-Founder of Tern. "Their commitment to making tour content more accessible to advisors aligned perfectly with our vision.
“Now advisors can discover tours, build itineraries, price everything accurately, and book directly, all in one place,” said Shull. “But here's what matters most: we're the technology facilitating the booking. We're not the host agency. Advisors retain all their commissions, and their relationships with clients and suppliers stay intact."
Beyond the new integration, Tern will provide the ability for agents to purchase travel insurance plans from four travel insurance partners on Tern’s platform: Arch RoamRight, Faye, Trawick and Travel Insured International. The new travel insurance integration will come within the next six months.
