How did you get your start as a travel advisor?

I started by planning trips for friends and family, simply out of the joy of helping others explore the world. I found a real passion in crafting personalized travel experiences and discovering the little details that turn a good trip into an unforgettable one.

I then joined Forest Travel, where I’ve been able to formally develop my career as a luxury travel advisor.

How did you build your business?

Forest Travel has an excellent referral system that consistently brings in new business, along with strong marketing strategies that generate new leads. A significant part of my recurring sales comes from satisfied clients who share my contacts with friends and family, helping me grow through word-of-mouth and long-term relationships.

What characteristics make you a successful advisor?

I’m a naturally curious and empathetic person, which allows me to connect deeply with my clients. These qualities help me truly understand who they are, what they value and what kind of experiences will resonate with them. This insight enables me to design personalized journeys that reflect their unique preferences and exceed their expectations.

What makes this role especially fulfilling for me is living vicariously through my clients’ travels – hearing their stories and knowing that I played a part in creating unforgettable memories is incredibly rewarding.

What have been your greatest challenges?

One of the greatest challenges as a travel advisor is not having fixed working hours – when a client needs you, you have to be available. Finding a healthy work-life balance has been a challenge, but one I’ve embraced wholeheartedly.

Over time, I’ve learned how to set clear expectations, establish boundaries, and still provide exceptional service without burning out. It’s an ongoing learning process, but it has made me more resilient and efficient.

What are your greatest accomplishments?

Through a combination of strategic planning, personalized communication and a focus on delivering value, I was able to double my business and drive consistent month-over-month sales growth. My background in business development has enabled me to build strong, trust-based relationships with clients and close sales efficiently.

What tips can you provide advisors new to the industry?

As someone who is new to the industry, I understand how intimidating it can feel – especially if you haven’t traveled extensively or don’t know every destination or brand in detail.

But let me reassure you: You don’t need to know everything from day one. What matters most is your willingness to learn. There is an incredible amount of resources available, and your curiosity will take you far.

When working with destinations you haven’t visited, don’t be afraid to lean on your networks – tour operators, destination management companies and experienced colleagues are invaluable allies. Ask questions, stay curious and trust that your confidence will grow with experience.
