Big things are on the horizon for United Airlines in 2026.

This year, the Chicago-based carrier plans to launch brand new business class seats, an array of notable new routes, and other exciting products that will “shake up the industry,” according to a new internal memo from the airline’s CEO Scott Kirby.

The memo was sent to United employees on January 2, according to a report from The Points Guy.

So far for 2026, the airline has revealed major plans to debut a new version of its popular Polaris business class cabins. The elevated versions of the premium cabin will offer new perks and amenities like privacy doors, caviar service, and the largest entertainment screens among U.S. carriers. The new Polaris cabin launches on United’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner planes from San Francisco to Singapore and London later this year.

Additionally, United has announced plans to launch nonstop routes to trending destinations like Split, Croatia, Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and Glasgow, Scotland, in summer 2026.

Passengers on some of those new routes will also be able to take advantage of forthcoming new United Club lounges in San Francisco (SFO), Washington D.C. (IAD), and its largest-ever club in Houston (IAH).

But even with all of those launches planned, there could be more on the horizon for the airline and its passengers.

"We’re saving a few things for later this year that include new aircraft types and innovative products that will shake-up the industry and continue to attract and retain brand loyal customers to United for the next decade and beyond," Kirby wrote in the memo, according to TPG.

United’s tantalizing preview to the year ahead appears similar to other major U.S. airlines’ strategies as many carriers attempt to maximize an industry-wide surge in demand for premium products.

American Airlines, for example, has been rolling out a continuous string of new premium products, including its new Flagship Suites business class, beginning construction on new Flagship lounges at multiple hub airports, and most recently, introducing free Wi-Fi across the majority of its fleet.

Delta, too, has been expanding premium Delta One check-in areas to all of its hub airports and has a multi-year plan to expand its Delta One lounge network by adding new outposts at its four hub airports that don’t yet have the premium spaces.

The new United products rolling out in 2026 follow the carrier’s rollout of unique new routes and major products throughout 2025, including the introduction of fast and free Starlink Wi-Fi to its mainline 737-800 planes and nonstop flights to emerging destinations like Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Dakar, Senegal.
